چکیده
Abstract To understand how climate change affects crop yields, we need to identify the climatic indices that best predict yields. Grain yields are most often predicted using precipitation and temperature in statistical models, assuming linear dependences. However, soil water availability is more influential for plant growth than temperature, there ecophysiological evidence of intermediate yield maximizing conditions. Using rainfed maize soybean 1970–2010 across USA, tested whether aridity index, is, ratio potential evapotranspiration seasonal totals a proxy availability, better predicts growing season total, average their interaction. 15 صفحه اولStandardized precipitation index and nitrogen rate effects on crop yields and risk distribution in maize
Crop performance in rainfed cropping systems generally is dependent on rainfall amount and distribution. The objective of this study was to analyze the long-term consequences of rainfall expressed as a standardized precipitation index (SPI) and fertilizer nitrogen (N) on yields and risk probabilities of maize in the udic-ustic moisture regimes in the Great Plains in Nebraska. The SPI is a preci...
متن کاملDevelopment and evaluation of ordinary least squares regression models for predicting irrigated and rainfed maize and soybean yields
Understanding the relationships between climatic variables and soil physical and chemical properties with crop yields on large scales is critical for evaluating crop productivity to make better assessments of local and regional food security, policy, land and water resource allocation, and management decisions. In this study, ordinary least squares (OLS) regression models were developed to pred...
متن کاملAuthor's personal copy Analysis of potential yields and yield gaps of rainfed soybean in India using CROPGRO-Soybean model
To assess the scope for enhancing productivity of soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.), the CROPGRO-Soybean model was calibrated and validated for the diverse soybean-growing environments of central and peninsular India. The validated model was used to estimate potential yields (water non-limiting and water limiting) and yield gaps of soybean for 21 locations representing major soybean regions of Ind...
